Claus Guth's productions of Strauss' Daphne (2010) and Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande (2012) at Oper Frankfurt both won FAUST Production of the Year Theatre Prizes. Other productions for the company in recent seasons were Ein Maskenball/Un ballo in maschera , this new production of Der Rosenkavalier, which was a triumph last season, and his Il trittico is being revived in March/April 2016. New productions this season are Salome at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Rigoletto at the Opéra National in Paris and Martinů's Julietta at the Staatsoper in Berlin. Other recent productions have included L’incoronazione di Poppea at the Theater an der Wien, Fidelio at the Salzburg Festival, The Turn of the Screw and world premiere of Oehring's AscheMOND and The Fairy Queen at the Staatsoper in Berlin. Claus Guth is sought after by opera houses through Europe, including the Vienna, Munich and Hamburg (were productions have included Wagner's Ring) state operas, Zurich Opera, La Scala Milan (Frau ohne Schatten and Lohengrin, amongst others), the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and the Bayreuth Festival (Der fliegende Holländer/The Flying Dutchman). Claus Guth studied philosophy, Germanistic and theatre in Munich and theatre and operatic direction at Bavaria's August Everding Theaterakademie.
