David Lomelí

Tenor

David Lomelí
David Lomelí is singing the role of the Earl of Leicester for the first time. This Mexican tenor, who began his career at Los Angeles Opera’s Domingo Thornton Young Artist’s Program and San Francisco Opera’s Merola Program, is regarded throughout North America and Europe as one of the most promising singers of belcanto repertoire. In 2006 he became the first artist ever to have won two prizes – „Opera“ and „Zarzuela“ – at Plácido Domingo’s Operalia Competition. Roles central to his repertoire include Gounod’s Faust (Madison Opera), MacDuff in Macbeth (Opéra de Lille), the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto (in Los Angeles, Toronto, Karlsruhe and elsewhere), Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore (New York City Opera), Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor (Pittsburgh Opera and the Deutsche Oper Berlin), Alfredo in La Traviata (San Francisco, Houston Grand Opera and the Deutsche Oper Berlin) and Rodolfo in La Bohème (including productions at Theater Basel, in Santa Fe and Glyndebourne). Future engegements include Lord Percy (role debut) in Anna Bolena at Cologne Opera and performances of the Duke of Mantua at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
