Roles sung by the prize winning Russian countertenor Dmitry Egorov, back to sing Nireno in this revival of Giulio Cesare in Egitto, at Oper Frankfurt in recent seasons have included First Witch in Dido and Aeneas and Ascalax in Telemann's Orpheus, and he can be heard here again in April singing the title role in a new production of Radamisto in the Bockenheimer Depot. He sang his first solo role, in Monteverdi's Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria, whilst studying in Mainz. Recent engagements have included Adelbert (Emma und Eginhard) at the Staatsoper in Berlin under René Jacobs, with whom he will work again there quite soon on a production of Steffani's Amor vien dal destino, the title role in Handel's Giulio Cesare in Klagenfurt, L’humana fragilità / Pisandro (Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria) at Cologne Opera, Goffredo (Rinaldo) in Münster and Medoro (Orlando) at the Handel Festival in Halle. Specialising in baroque music, he has worked with many leading ensembles and conductors including Michael Hofstetter, Ton Koopman, Konrad Junghänel and Attilio Cremonesi. His first solo recording, Il primo uomo, with arias by Handel and Scarlatti, was released in 2011.
