Luca Pisaroni
Bass-baritone
The Italian bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni is regarded as one of the most interesting and versatile singers of his generation. Since making his debut at the Salzburg Festival with the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt he has appeared a leading opera houses all over the world. Pisaroni has sung Mozart’s Figaro at the Metropolitan Opera, Opéra National de Paris, San Francisco Opera, Vienna State Opera and Salzburg Festival and Leporello at the Teatro Real in Madrid, in Glyndebourne and at the Tanglewood Music Festival under James Levine. Other roles in his repertoire include Guglielmo, Papageno, Hercules in Gluck’s Alceste, Conte Dorval in Martín y Soler’s Il burbero di buon cuore, Enrico in Haydn’s L’isola disabitata and Douglas d’Angus in Rossini’s La donna del lago. Works in concert have included Hasse’s I Pellegrini al Sepolcro di Nostro Signore at the Salzburg Pfingst (Whitsun) Festival, Cherubini’s Missa Solemnis at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino under Riccardo Muti, Schumann’s Das Paradies und die Peri with Sir Simon Rattle in Philadelphia and at the Carnegie Hall, Zebul in Handel’s Jephta with the Berlin Philharmonic under Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Haydn’s Il ritorno di Tobia with Adám Fischer at the Konzerthaus in Vienna and Bach’s St. John Passion at the Théâtre du Châtelet. He is also a passionate about Lieder singing and places where he has appeared in recital have included the Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, at the Edinburgh Festival and the Wigmore Hall in London. Recent recordings on which Luca Pisaroni can be heard include Don Giovanni (EMI-DVD), DVDs of him as Masetto and Publio - part of the Salzburg Festivals Mozart 22 series, La Resurrezione for Virgin Classics and Don Giovanni with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra under Yannick Nézet-Séguin for Deutsche Grammophon.
