This is Constantin Trinks’ debut at Oper Frankfurt. He started his career coaching solists and working as assistant to Kazushi Ono at the Badische Staatstheater in his home town of Karlsruhe. While there the operas he conducted included Le nozze di Figaro, Die Fledermaus and Bellini’s I puritani. In 2002 he became 2nd Kapellmeister at the Saarländische Staatstheater in Saarbrucken, where works he conducted included a new production of Nono’s Intolleranza 1960. He was promoted to 1st Kapellmeister and Vice General Music Director. Constantin Trinks was appointed GMD at the Staatstheater in Darmstadt in 2009/10 after conducting very successful performances of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg there. In 2011 he conducted a new production of the Ring des Nibelungen for the company. Now a free-lance conductor, recent engagements have included a new production of Jaromir Weinberger’s Schwanda, der Dudelsackpfeifer/Schwanda, the Bagpiper at the Semper Oper in Dresden (2011/12), Der Rosenkavalier at the Opera Festival in Muinich (2011 & 2012), La Bohème (2012) at the New National Theatre in Tokyo (where he returns in 2013 for Tannhäuser). Other forthcoming engagements include Tannhäuser at the Opéra National du Rhin in Strassbourg in 2013 and Turandot at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in 2014.
