Marco Frezzato had cello lessons with Mario Brunello, Antonio Meneses and Amedeo Baldovino and studied chamber music with the Trio di Trieste and Maureen Jones at the Accademia Chigiana di Siena and Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. He began playing on historical instruments from an early age and studied the baroque cello with Gaetano Nasillo and Christophe Coin at the Scuola Civica in Milan, where he graduated with distinction in 2003. He has been first cellist of the Accademia Bizantina ensemble, led by Ottavio Dantone, since 2002. Marco Frezzato has taken part in many recordings and is a regular guest at leading festivals throughout Europe and America. Musicians and ensembles with whom he has worked have included Christophe Coin, Andreas Scholl, Sandrine Piau, Emma Kirkby, Bernarda Fink, Roberta Invernizzi, Sonia Prina, Georg Nigel, Maria Christina Kiehr, Giovanni Antonini, Sergio Azzolini, Vittorio Ghielmi, Enrico Onofri, Guido Morini, the Il Giardino Armonico ensemble, Ensemble Accordone, Ensemble Claudiana and Ars Musica Zurich. He is also a member of the Alea Ensemble, which plays classic and romantic chamber music on historical instruments.
