Karlsruhe born Peter Felix Bauer, who makes his debut at Oper Frankfurt in these performances of Götterdämmerung, will return in May for concert performances of Rienzi. He changed from being a bass baritone to a baritone in 2005 and has been a member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater in Oldenburg since 2009/10, where he has enjoyed great success with roles including Wotan (Die Walküre), Cardillac (Cardillac), Der Tod/Death (Der Kaiser von Atlantis/The Kaiser from Atlantis) and Scarpia (Tosca). This season his roles there include Jochanaan (Salome), Schaunard (La Bohème), Bartolo (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Nick Shadow (The Rake’s Progress). Recent guest engagements have included Klingsor (Parsifal) at the Staatstheater in Mainz, Alberich and Rigoletto at the Landestheater in Coburg, Kaiser Genshoo (Ai-En, an opera, in Japanese, by Minuro Miki), Jochanaan and Don Pizarro (Fidelio) at the Stadttheater in Heidelberg and very successful performances of the title role in Der fliegende Holländer/The Flying Dutchman at various theatres in Germany in 2007.
