Riccardo Frizza
Riccardo Frizza is making his debut in Frankfurt. This season this internationally sought after Italian artist has conducted I Capuleti e i Montecchi in San Francisco, La Cenerentola in Paris (Opéra Bastille), La scala di seta in Zurich and Il barbiere di Siviglia in Munich (Bayerische Staatsoper). Engagements between now and July 2013 include new productions of Oberto at La Scala Milan and Attila at the Theater an der Wien, and a Verdi Gala in the Arena di Verona. Other forthcoming engagements include Norma at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, La Bohème in Dallas and Rigoletto in the Arena di Verona and in Seattle. Riccardo Frizza has also appeared at many international festivals, including the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, the Festival de Radio France, the Wexford Festival and Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. Orchestras with whom he has worked have included the Gewandhaus Orchester, the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Philarmonia Orchestra of London, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2009 he conducted Otello at the New National Theatre in Tokyo. His discography includes a recording of arias titled "Una furtiva lagrima" with Juan Diego Flórez and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, which received a Cannes Classical Award in 2004.
