Bálint Szabó was a member of the Hungarian, Roumanian and Hamburg state operas before joining the Ensemble at Oper Frankfurt (2005/06-2008/09), where roles included Don Giovanni, Mephisto (Faust), Colline (La Bohème), Fiesco (Simon Boccanegra), Banco (Macbeth), Zaccaria (Nabucco), Don Profondo (Il viaggio a Reims), Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor) and, most recently, as a guest, Lodovico in Otello. Later this season he will sing Sid in our new production of La fanciulla del West and Tom in Ein Maskenball/Un ballo in maschera. Bálint Szabó recently sang Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte) at the Opéra Nice and the Opéra national du Rhin in Strassbourg. Other engagements in recent seasons have included appearances at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Staatstheater in Stuttgart, the Grand Théâtre in Geneva, Athens National Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden London, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, Teatro Municipal Santiago de Chile and the New Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv.
