Recent engagements have included Idomeneo and Die Zauberflöte at the Semperoper in Dresden, La Traviata at Welsh National Opera and Rinaldo at Theater Freiburg. After periods as a Kapellmeister in Ulm and Darmstadt she was Chief Conductor at Theater Basel, from 1998-2002, where productions included Otello, Lohengrin, Der Rosenkavalier and Macbeth. This was followed by a highly successful period as Chief Conductor of the Teatro São Carlos in Lisbon and Portuguese Symphony Orchestra. She has appeared at the Vienna, Berlin, Munich and Hamburg state operas and is a regular guest at the Volksoper in Vienna. Other opera houses where she has enjoyed great success have included those in Florence, Genoa, Strassbourg, Barcelona, Geneva, Sydney, Toronto, Washington and at the Salzburg Festival. She is also much in demand for concert work and orchestras with whom she has worked in recent seasons include the Montreal Symphony, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden. Future engagements include Die Zauberflöte at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Otello at the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux.
