Roberto Saccà
Tenor
Roberto Saccà is one of the world’s leading Mozart tenors. During the 2006 Mozart Year he sang the title roles in Idomeneo (in Barcelona), La clemenza di Tito (Zurich) and, Lucio Silla (Salzburg Festival). Operas in which he performed, available on DVD, include Don Giovanni and Così fan tutte under Nikolaus Harnoncourt, La Traviata under Lorin Maazel and Gianni Schicchi under Seiji Ozawa. His discography includes a solo album of arias ranging from Donizetti to Verdi. Roberto Saccà was a member of the ensemble at Zurich Opera from 1993-2002, and maintains close ties to the house to this day. He received offers from all over the world after making his international break-through in 1995 at the Festwochen in Vienna in a new production of Haydn’s Orfeo with Cecilia Bartoli. Future engagements, following on from Carmen at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Ariadne auf Naxos at the Hamburg State Opera, a new production of Die Meistersinger in Amsterdam and at the Salzburg Festival in the 2012/13 season, include Lohengrin (role debut) in Düsseldorf, Ariadne auf Naxos at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Matteo (role and house debut) in Arabella at the Metropolitan Opera New York.
