Bertrand de Billy, first Guest Conductor of the Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchesters and Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne since 2013/14 and, from 2014/15, of the Dresden Philharmonic, is one of the most sought after conductors in the world. He is a regular guest at Covent Garden (new production of Maria Stuarda in July 2014), the Vienna State Opera (Die Fledermaus 2014/15), Theater an der Wien, the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Salzburg festivals. Last season he conducted Arabella at the New National Theatre in Tokyo and in August 2015 he has been engaged for Il trovatore in Orange. He works regularly with leading orchestras, including the Cleveland Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphonieorchester, the Dresden Staatskapelle, Orchestre de Paris, the Royal Kapelle Copenhagen, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg Philharmonic, the RSB and Konzerthausorchester Berlin. Born in Paris, he was appointed 1st Kapellmeister and Deputy GMD in Dessau 1993, and later became GMD of the Volksoper in Vienna. He was named Chief Conductor of the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona in 1999 and of the Vienna Radio Symphonieorchester in 2002. Many CDs and DVDs document his wide and varied achievements. Bertrand de Billy has been awarded many honours in France and Austria.
