Delius’ life’s was influenced by the folklore and colour of the different countries where he lived: England, Germany, Norway and, finally, France.
Opera Finale will try and create a broader picture of the life of this British composer, who was dogged by ill health, paralysis and blindness, from a young age. His opera Romeo und Julia auf dem Dorfe/A Village Romeo and Juliet is the last new production of 2013/14 and the starting point for this series of events before the summer holidays. Evenings of chamber music, readings and talks are intended to encourage our audiences to get to know more about this neglected composer.
An exhibition about Delius, which runs from June 22nd-July 13th, can be seen in the Wolkenfoyer, by people coming to a performance or other events in the theatre. If you understand German then please look at the German side of this website as there are some other events, in addition to the ones mentioned below, that might be of interest.
