Quinn Kelsey
Hawaiian baritone Quinn Kelsey, who reached the finals of the 2005 Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, is a regular guest at opera companies on both sides of the Atlantic, including the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Sächsische Staatsoper in Dresden, the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, the Lyric Opera Chicago, San Francisco Opera, the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Bregenz and Edinburgh festivals. He recently sang the title role in Rigoletto at Zurich Opera (there are more Performances there early next year). Engagments next season include Sancho Panza in Don Quichotte for the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto and a return to the Lyric Opera of Chicago for Giorgio Germont in La Traviata. His repertoire includes the roles of Conte di Luna (Il trovatore), Amonasro (Aida), Paolo Albiani (Simon Boccanegra), the Forester (The Cunning Little Vixen), Sharpless (Madame Butterfly) and Zurga (The Pearl Fishers). His concert repertoire includes works by Bernstein, Beethoven, Orff and Mahler. Quinn Kelsey and Elza van den Heever took part in a recording of Mahler 8 with the San Francisco Symphony, conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas.
