Andreas Bauer
Andreas Bauer joins the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt in the 2013/14 season, during which he will sing Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Landgraf Hermann (Tannhäuser), King Marke (Tristan und Isolde) and Der Totenwächter/the Guardian of the Dead in a new production of Enescu's Oedipe. He was under contract to the Mainfranken Theater in Würzburg before joining the ensemble at the Berlin State Opera. During his time there (2007-2012) his roles included the Commendatore (Don Giovanni), the King (Aida) and Titurel (Parsifal) - all conducted by Daniel Barenboim - Publio (role debut) in La clemenza di Tito, alongside Elīna Garanča, Sarastro, Trulove (The Rake’s Progress), Colline (La Bohème), Timur (Turandot), Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte). Guest engagements in recent seasons have included his very successful debut at Oper Leipzig, singing Zaccaria in Nabucco, and appearances at the Semperoper in Dresden, the Opéra de Lyon, Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse, Teatro Municipial Santiago de Chile and Edinburgh Festival. His repertoire also includes the title role in Bartók's Bluebeard's Castle, Gremin (Eugen Onegin), Sparafucile (Rigoletto), Seneca (The Coronation of Poppea), Kaspar (Der Freischütz) and Claggart (Billy Budd).  Places where he has sung Méphistophélès in Gounod's Faust have included the Teatro Modena. This young bass is also much in demand for concert work and performs regularly in Japan, Berlin and Munich. Concert repertoire includes Beethoven 9, Verdi's Requiem and Haydn's Die Schöpfung/The Creation. Other conductors with whom Andreas Bauer has worked have included Claudio Abbado, Sir Colin Davis, Sir Simon Rattle, Andris Nelsons, Philippe Jordan, Ingo Metzmacher and Gustavo Dudamel.
