Giuliano Carella
The Italian conductor Giuliano Carella returns to Frankfurt, where he led concert performances of Anna Bolena and a revival of La Traviata in 2009/2010. He was General Music Director of the Arena di Verona from 1998-2003, a position he now holds at Opera Toulon, and is a regular guest at leading opera companies around the world. Recent engagements have included L'italiana in Algeri at Marseille Opera, Nabucco at the Stuttgart State Opera, La Traviata at Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam and Il Trovatore in the Arena di Verona. Future engagements include Norma, Macbeth and Don Giovanni in Toulon, La Traviata in Stuttgart and Il barbiere di Seviglia at Dallas Opera. His repertoire includes the finest Italian and French operas from the 18th century to the present day. His discography (many of his recordings have won prizes) includes well known works such as Bellini's La Sonnambula and Verdi's Ernani as well as some rarities, including Donizetti's Diluvio universale and Amore dei tre Re by Italo Montemezzi. His DVDs include Turandot at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona.
