Jim Lucassen
Jim Lucassen, who was born in Holland, made his debut at Oper Frankfurt with this production of Rusalka. He recently directed Ariodande in Essen. Other productions in recent seasons have included Werther and Marcello's Arianna at the Landestheater in Salzburg, Così fan tutte at the Opéra National Lorraine and Un ballo in maschera at the Theater St. Gallen. Jim Lucassen is usually his own stage designer. Before making his debut in Germany with Rigoletto at Theater Heidelberg he worked mainly in Holland, where productions included Saint-Saëns’ La Princesse Jaune, the world premiere of Maarten Jense's O=O+W=W, Die Zauberflöte, Orfeo ed Euridice, Jonathan Dove's Siren Song, Gounod's La Colombe, Confessions of a Soprano - with music by Cole Porter and Benjamin Britten, Le Bal Masqué. with music by Poulenc, and Ambroise Thomas' Mignon. Earlier on in his career Jim Lucassen worked as a director's assistant at De Nederlandse Opera, the Opéra National de Paris and De Nationale Reisopera.
