Mischa Schelomianski
Russian bass Mischa Schelomianski recently sang René in Tchaikovsky's Iolanta) in Nancy and Metz and Ludovico in Otello in Valencia. He appeared as the Wassermann/Water Sprite when this production of Rusalka was performed in Montpellier. Recent guest engagements (which have often been for the Water Sprite) have included appearances at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Hamburg State Opera, Cologne Opera, the Stadttheater in Bern, Volksoper in Vienna, the Garnier and Bastille in Paris, the Opéra National de Lyon, New National Theatre in Tokyo, the Prague Spring and Schleswig Holstein festivals and has been a regular guest at the Glyndebourne Festival. Directors with whom Mischa Schelomianski has worked have included Nikolaus Lehnhoff, Robert Carsen, Harry Kupfer and Peter Konwitschny. His repertoire also includes the roles of Don Fernando (Fidelio), Gremin (Eugen Onegin - which he will be singing at Opéra Montpellier during the 2013/14 season), Seneca (The Coronation of Poppea), Philip II (Don Carlo), Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte) and King Marke (Tristan und Isolde). He studied at the Frankfurt Hochschule for Music and the Performing Arts.
