Loving opera

Talk show after performances

Bernd Loebe Events in the Loving Opera series, during which artists involved in a new production talk to Intendant Bernd Loebe, are very popular. These take place in the Holzfoyer and begin not long after the end of the performance. Your you can enjoy a free glass of wine, and water, while you listen. These events are in German but there are sometimes guests who cannot speak the language and so English is often heard too!

Before Bernd Loebe worked as Opera Director at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, for eleven years, long before he returned to his home town as Intendant of Oper Frankfurt, he belonged to the »other side«: as a music journalist with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the Neue Musikzeitung and Opernwelt. Between 1979 and 1992 he moderated hundreds of programmes for the Hessische Rundfunk (radio), reported on performances at leading festivals and created the »Das Lexikon der Stimmen/The Lexicon of Voices« series. On these evenings he slips back into the role of a curious journalist, hosting talks with guests including artists who you have just seen on stage and personalities from politics, culture and society in Frankfurt.
