Constantinos Carydis

Constantinos Carydis
Constantinos Carydis conducted this Dido and Aeneas / Bluebeard's Castle double bill during the first run of performances and on Oper Frankfurt's tour to the 2013 Edinburgh Festival. This much sought after conductor, who was awarded the 2011 »Carlos Kleiber Prize« by the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, last appeared at Oper Frankfurt in the 2011/12 season, conducting a new production of Stravinsky's The Rake’s Progress. He will return here later this season for a revival of Tristan und Isolde, and plans are afoot for the future. After completing his studies in Athens and Munich his first engagements included performances at the Staatstheater Gärtnerplatz in Munich and the Staatsoper in Stuttgart. In recent seasons engagements have included productions at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Vienna, Munich, Berlin and Athens state operas, the Komische Oper Berlin, Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam and Opéra Lyon. He has also appeared in concert with leading orchestras including the Bavarian Radio and NDR symphony orchestras, the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Munich Philharmonic, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Stuttgart and Vienna radio symphony orchestras and the Tonhalle in Zürich.
