Leo Hussain
British born Leo Hussain made his debut at Oper Frankfurt conducting a revival of the L’Heure espagnole / La vida breve double bill in 2010/11. Engagements during recent seasons have included productions at English National Opera, Opera North, Grange Park Opera, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, the Salzburg Festival, Marinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg and concerts with leading orchestras including the Vienna and Hamburg symphony orchestras, the Deutsche Sinfonieorchester Berlin, the BBC Philharmonic, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Mozarteum in Salzburg and Kyushu Sinfonie Orchestra in Japan. He recently conducted Falstaff at the Royal Opera in Copenhagen. Leo Hussain enjoyed enormous success at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels with Le Grand Macabre in 2009 and was named Chief Conductor of the Landestheater in Salzburg, where productions in 2014 include Eugen Onegin, La clemenza di Tito and Kaija Saariaho'sEmilie. Leo Hussain studied at Cambridge University and the Royal Academy of Music in London and worked as an assistant to Sir Simon Rattle, Riccardo Muti and Valery Gergiev.
