Giorgio Surian
Fiume born bass Giorgio Surian is a regular guest at leading opera houses around the world, including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Zurich Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Arena di Verona and at the Salzburg Festival. He has worked with many of the world's leading conductors, including Zubin Mehta, Daniele Gatti and Claudio Abbado. He recently sang the title role in Falstaff in Zagreb, a role returns to Frankfurt to sing in a new production which opens in early 2014. Appearances captured on CD or DVD include performances at La Scala Milan (including Guglielmo Tell, Rigoletto and La forza del destino), in Florence (Mozart's Figaro) and the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago (Scarpia). His repertoire includes many leading roles in italian operas (mainy by Verdi, Puccini and Rossini) as well as roles by Beethoven, Wagner, Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, Mussorgsky, Berlioz and Meyerbeer. Giorgio Surian made his debut at Oper Frankfurt in 2010 with the Four Villains in a new production of Hoffmanns Erzählungen/The Tales of Hoffmann.
