Alexander Liebreich

Alexander Liebreich
Alexander Liebreich, Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of Polish Radio's National Symphony Orchestra since 2012/2013, will open Polish Radio's new Philharmonie Hall in August 2014 with Bavarian Radio's chorus and the pianist Krystian Zimerman. He has been Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Munich Chamber Orchestra since 2006 and Artistic Director of the Tongyeong International Music Festival in South Korea, one of the most important festivals in Asia, since 2011. After successful collaboration with Hans Neuenfels on Schoeck's Penthesilea, with which Alexander Liebreich made his debut at Oper Frankfurt in 2011, he now returns for this new production of Enescu's Oedipe. In 2013 he appeared for the first time with the Frankfurter Museumsorchester in the Alte Oper, with Bruckner 3, and with the Munich Chamber Orchestra in the Musikverein in Vienna. In November 2013 he made his debut with the Cité de la musique in Paris. Other orchestras with whom he has worked include the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the NDR Radio Philharmonic in Hannover, RSO Stuttgart, the Dresden Philharmonic, Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra and the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo. Recent additions to his discography are recordings of Toshio Hosokawa's Landscapes (ECM) and Rossini Ouvertures (Sony Classics), which was voted CD of the month (August 2011) by Fonoforum magazine. A CD of Mozart's Requiem, with Bavarian Radio chorus, will be released by Sony Classics in December 2013.
