Roles sung by this highly regarded Scottish countertenor at Oper Frankfurt in the past have included Satirino in a new production of La Calisto (2011/2012). He is now back to repeat his hilarious portrayal of Trinculo in The Tempest. He made his debut at English National Oper in 1981, in Monteverdi's Orfeo. He has enjoyed great success with many interesting roles including Arsamene (Xerxes), Polinesso (Ariodante), Handel's Giulio Cesare, Oberon (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Akhnaten, Mystery Man (Lost Highway), Edgar (Reimann's Lear), Claire (The Maids) and Edward Kelley (Doctor Dee). He has appeared all over the world at leading opera companies including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Scottish Opera, the Royal Opera in Copenhagen, the Semperoper in Dresden, Vlaamse Opera in Antwerpen, Ópera São Paulo, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, New York City Opera and in Edinburgh. His most recent engagements were Purcell's The Fairy Queen at the International Istanbul Music Festival and the world premiere of Reiserer's President Jekyll in the Amerikahaus in Munich. Engagements in 2014 include the title role in Andre Tchaikovsky's Der Kaufmann von Venedig/The Merchant of Venice at the Wielki Theatre in Warsaw. Christopher Robson was a member of the ensemble at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich until 2006, where he was made a Kammersänger in 2003.
