John Osborn


These are John Osborn's first performances of the title role in Werther and his debut at Oper Frankfurt. This American tenor has appeared at leading opera houses all over the world, including the Semperoper in Dresden, Zurich Opera, the Grand Théâtre in Geneva, the Vienna State Opera, Théâtre la Monnaie in Brussels, De Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam, La Scala Milan, the ROH Covent Garden in London, the opera houses in Buenos Aires, Lyon and Nice, Houston Grand Opera and the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where he was a member of the Young Artist Development Program early on in his career. Other venues where he has appeared have included the Arena di Verona and Royal Albert Hall in London, as part of the BBC Proms. His recently sang the title role in The Tales of Hoffmann at the Opéra National in Lyon. Engagements in 2014 include the title role in Rossinis Otello at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris and Salzburg Festival, and Arnoldo Melchthal in Guillaume Tell in Turin. John Osborn's artistry has won him many awards, including 1st Prize at the »Operalia« competition, founded by Placido Domingo, and 2012 »Premio Aureliano Pertile« competition in Asti. His extensive discography includes a recently released recording of Bellini's Norma with Cecilia Bartoli, conducted by Giovanni Antonini, and a DVD of the Met's production of Armida with Renée Fleming (DECCA).
