Sian Edwards

Sian Edwards took on the role of Head of Conducting at the Royal Academy of Music in London in the autumn of 2013. She is now back in Frankfurt, where she has conducted Pique Dame and Peter Grimes in the past, for this revival of The Tempest. During 2014 she will conduct Verdi's La Traviata at the Theater an der Wien, where productions in recent seasons have included Previn's A Streetcar Named Desire, Adams’ Dead Man Walking and The Rape of Lucretia. She has also appeared at Glyndebourne, English National Opera in London, where she was Music Director between 1993-1995, the Staatsoper in Stuttgart, Opéra Comique in Paris, the Vlaamse Opera in Antwerpen, Scottish Opera, Opera Australia, in Aspen, Copenhagen and Helsinki. This British born conductor has worked with leading orchestras around the world, incuding the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Vienna Symphony, the Orchestre de Paris, London Sinfonietta, Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Radio Symphony Orchestra Frankfurt, the MDR in Leipzig, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Hallé, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Klangforum Wien. She has enjoyed a close relationship with Frankfurt's Ensemble Modern for many years. Sian Edwards has also taught at the Guildhall School of Music and held masterclasses in England and Germany.
