Yves Saelens


Tenor

Belgian tenor Yves Saelens has been a regular guest at Oper Frankfurt for many years. His most recent role was a King in concert performances of Strauss' Die Liebe der Danae last season. His repertoire includes many lead roles in Mozart operas, Alfredo (La Traviata), Admeto (Alceste), Alwa (Lulu), Steva (Jenůfa), Gérald (Lakmé), Lelio (La Capricciosa corretta), Filippo (L’Infedeltà delusa), Ferdinand (The Tempest), Guido Bardi (Zemlinsky's A Florentine Tragedy) and David (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg). He has also created roles in world premieres: Il Matto (van Hove's La strada), L’Avventore (Brewaeys’ L’uomo dal fiore in bocca), Le Chef de la Garde (Villenave's Affaire Étrangère), Festus (Wagemans’ Legende) and Shoko (Wagemans’ Andreas Weent). During the 2014/15 season he sang Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) with the Enschede Symphony Orchestra and Berlioz’ Faust at the National Theater in Mannheim. Recent concert work has included Britten's War Requiem with the Tiroler Symphonie Orchester in Innsbruck and Berlioz’ L’Enfance du Christ at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels.
