Carlo Franci
Carlo Franci is a regular guest at Oper Frankfurt where works he has conducted have included a new production of Don Carlo, Don Giovanni and concert performances of Catalani's La Wally. He has worked at all the leading opera houses in Italy, including La Scala Milan, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, in Rome and Florence and at the Arena di Verona. Orchestras with whom he has worked have included the London Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonic and Symphony orchestra in Vienna and the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchester. He has conducted more than 90 performances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Other work in America has taken him to Boston, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Detroit und Dallas. He was Chief Conductor of the Transvaal Philharmonic Orchestra in Pretoria from 1990–97. He has also been a regular guest in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Mannheim, Vienna, Madrid, Barcelona, Zurich, Tokyo, Seoul, Caracas, Rio de Janeiro, Singapore and Johannesburg. Carlo Franci is also a respected composer. His Klang Reise/Sound Journey for orchestra and electronic lute, dedicated to our Frankfurt Opern- und Museumsorchester, received its world premiere in 2008/09. He recently spoke at several conferences about »The relationships between electronic sound and contemporary art (video)« and »The close connections between Schönberg and Stockhausen's music and works by Kandinsky and Pollock«.
