Henrik Nánási, GMD of the Komische Oper in Berlin since 2012/13, conducts this new production of La gazza ladra in Frankfurt where, in recent seasons, he conducted La Bohème (2008/09), I Masnadieri (2010/11) and a new production of Chabrier's L’Étoile in 2011/12, which were the first ever performances of the work in Frankfurt. He follows up productions of Cosi fan tutte and Rusalka at the Komische Oper this season with Prokofiev's The Firey Angel and Bizet's Carmen. Other engagements during the 2013/14 season are Turandot at Covent Garden, Otello at the Hamburg State Opera and Carmen at this summer's Arena di Verona opera festival. Henrik Nánási studied at the »Béla Bartók« Conservatoire in Budapest and University for Music and the Performing Arts in Vienna. In 1999 he began working as a coach at the Stadttheater in Klagenfurt, where he became 1st Kapellmeister in 2002 and conducted a broad, and varied, repertoire (including a rarity, Eva, by Lehár). In 2005/06 he took up the same position in Augsburg before moving, a year later, to the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich as 1st Kapellmeister and deputy chief conductor.
