Jamie BartonThe American mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton, winner of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition in 2013 (in the categories of »Opera« and »Lieder«) and nominated for »Best Up and Coming Female Singer« in the 2014 International Opera Awards, is regarded as one of the most extraordinary talents in her fach today. She sings at renowned opera houses in the USA such as Santa Fe Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, in Atlanta and at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. She is also beginning to make a name for herself in Europe. She has sung Mère Marie (The Dialogues of the Carmelites) and 2nd Norn (Götterdämmerung) at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. Roles in the 2013/14 season included Adalgisa in Norma, Fricka (Ring) at Houston Grand Opera, to whose Opera Studio she once belonged, and Katisha in The Mikado at Opera Memphis. In the summer of 2014 she makes her debut in Japan at the Saito Kinen Festival in Falstaff, conducted by Fabio Luisi. Venues where she has appeared in concert and recital have included the Carnegie Hall New York, the Kennedy Center Washington, Barbican Centre London and Aspen Music Festival. Conductors with whom Jamie Barton has worked have included Erik Nielsen, Franz Welser-Möst, Kent Nagano, Sir Andrew Davis and Patrick Summers.
