Elza van den Heever Elza van den Heever, a member of the Ensemble at Oper Frankfurt from 2008/09 – 2012/13, recently sang the role of Hélène (role debut) here in a new production of Les Vêpres Siciliennes. During her time with the company she thrilled audiences in Frankfurt with roles including Desdemona (Otello), Elisabeth de Valois (Don Carlos), Giorgetta (Il trittico), Elektra (Idomoneo), Antonia (The Tales of Hoffmann), Vitellia (La Clemenza di Tito), Elsa von Brabant (Lohengrin) - all new productions - and Elisabetta (Maria Stuarda, in concert) - a role she sang when she made her debut at the Met in New York in 2012. Places where she has sung in recent seasons have included the Opéra National de Paris, Theater an der Wien. Dallas Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto. This Johannesburg born soprano sang her first major role (Donna Anna in Don Giovanni), which she sang at the Bayerische Statsoper in Munich in 2013, in 2007 while an Alder Fellow in San Francisco. In 2013/14 engagements include Giselda (I lombardi alla prima crociata) at the Hamburg State Opera, Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes) at English National Opera in London and the title role in Anna Bolena at the Opéra National de Bordeaux.
