Joyn Brance
American baritone John Brancy – winner of the 2013 Marilyn Horne Competition – is one of the most promising talents of his generation. Engagements have included Fiorello in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Semperoper in Dresden, Harlekin in Ariadne auf Naxos at the Pacific Opera Victoria and – whilst still a student at the Juilliard School in New York – appearances in the Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall. Concert work has included appearances with the San Francisco Symphony, the Charleston and Boston symphony orchestras and the International Hugo Wolf Academy in Stuttgart. His repertoire includes Mike the Rookie Cop (John Adams’ I was looking at the ceiling), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Mozart's Don Giovanni, Aeneas (Purcell's Dido and Aeneas) and Slook (Rossini's La cambiale di matrimonio). John Brancy has also enjoyed great success at other competitions, including the 2010 Juilliard School Honors Recital Competition, the Sullivan Foundation, George London Foundation, the Young Arts Foundation, Gerda Lissner Foundation and 2012 Montreal International Music competitions.
