Eva-Maria Höckmayr

Eva-Maria Höckmayr is making her debut at Oper Frankfurt. She studied at the Ludwig Maximilian University and »August Everding« Bavarian Theater Academy in Munich. Recent productions have included Pique Dame/The Queen of Spades and Tannhäuser at the Freiburg Theater, Madame Butterfly at the Deutsche Nationaltheater in Weimar, Manfred Stahnke's Wahnsinn, das ist die Seele der Handlung/Madness, that is the Heart of the Matter at the Staatsoper in Berlin, Handel's Orlando at Theater Luzern, Scarlatti's Marco Attilio Regolo in Heidelberg and works at Cologne Opera and the Mousonturm in Frankfurt. She also created several interdisciplinary projects including Schwanengesänge, Variationen zu Leben und Tod/Variations on Life and Death and Kreutzersonate: Janáček, Beethoven and Tolstoy. Ein Musik-Theater won a prize from »Akademie Musiktheater heute« in 2007. A former »Akademie Musiktheater heute/Academy for Opera Today« scholarship holder, awards she has won have included one from the Richard-Wagner-Verband for her production of Pelléas et Mélisande at Theater Aachen (Götz Friedrich Prize, NRW-Förderpreis for young artists and nominations for Best Director and Best Production in »Opernwelt« magazine). She also received nominations in »Opernwelt« for her productions of Verdi's Otello at Theater Freiburg and, »Die Deutsche Bühne«, for Puccini's Suor Angelica at Cologne Opera. Projects next season include La Traviata and Der Freischütz and her return to the Staatsoper in Berlin for Telemann's Emma und Eginhard, conducted by René Jacobs.
