Aleš Briscein, a member of the ensemble at the State Opera in Prague, is making his debut at Oper Frankfurt singing Mazal/Blankytny/Petrik in Janáček's Die Ausflüge des Herrn Brouček/The Adventures of Mr Broucek - for the first time in staged performances. His roles in Prague during the 2014/15 season are Belmonte (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Ferrando (Così fan tutte), the Prince (Rusalka), Count Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Jiří (Jakobín), Alfredo Germont (La Traviata), Jaroměr (Fibich's Pad Arkuna), Jeník (The Bartered Bride) and Skuratov (The House of the Dead). He returns to Oper Frankfurt in 2015 to sing the King's Son in the first revival of our wonderful production of Humperdinck's Königskinder. Aleš Briscein's guest engagements, with roles such as Laca (Jenůfa), Kudrjaš (Katja Kabanová) and Janek (The Makropoulos Case, have included appearances at opera houses in Mexico City, Tokyo, Antwerp, Valencía, Zagreb, Munich, Vienna, Salzburg, Madrid and Paris. He has also appeared at the Edinburgh Festival, the BBC Proms and the Salzburg and Prague Spring festivals. His discography includes recordings of Pavel Haas’ Der Scharlatan (Decca) and Janáček's Die Ausflüge des Herrn Brouček/The Adventures of Mr Broucek conducted by Jiří Bělohlávek (Deutsche Grammophon). This Czech tenor studied the clarinet and saxophone before studying singing at the Conservatoire in Prague.
