The season, day by dayback to calendar
»Is there finer Rossini tenor out there than Lawrence Brownlee?« asked music critic Alex Ross. The New York Times even speaks about a »new golden age«. And, in actual fact, it was none other than the legendary Luciano Pavarotti who was the deciding factor in Lawrence Brownlee's determination to become an opera singer. This charming American with a bewitching voice has sung on many leading stages around the world. His international career really took off after he made his debut as Almaviva in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia at La Scala Milan, with opera houses in New York, Paris, London, Vienna, Munich, Berlin, Zurich and Madrid all trying to snap him up. He received a lot of attention and good press in 2015 for his portrayal of the saxophonist in the world premiere of Daniel Schnyder's Charlie Parker's Yardbird in Philhadelphia. 2016 was a superlative year for this Ohio born singer, with concerts and appearances all over the world, crowned by two nominations at the 2017 International Opera Awards – best singer and best recording: Donizetti and Bellini arias Allegreo io son.
