The season, day by day

Michael Volle (baritone)
Helmut Deutsch (piano)

»He is a theatre animal, bursting with enthusiasm and vocal power. Always open for something new«, wrote Opernwelt about Michael Volle, who was voted »Singer of the Year« in 2008 and 2014 by critics of the magazine. He won a FAUST Theater Prize for his Wozzeck at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, where he was a member of the ensemble for many years. This baritone's vocal expression and physical presence combine to make his exceptional voice breathtaking. He is internationally sought after as an interpreter of Wagner's Hans Sachs, Wotan, Wanderer, Holländer, Wolfram von Eschenbach and Amfortas, thrilling audiences at the Bayreuth and Salzburg festivals, at the Met in New York, La Scala Milan, the Vienna and Berlin state operas, the Royal Opera House in London and Zurich Opera . Michael Volle was due to give a recital in Frankfurt in 2014 but had to cancel at short notice, so we look forward all the more to hearing him and his pianist partner of many years Helmut Deutsch this season.
