Stéphane Degout (baritone)
Cédric Tiberghien (piano)

To be described as following in the footsteps of legends like Charles Panzéra, Pierre Bernac and Gérard Souzay, is better than any award. Stéphane Debout's seductive baritone combines classical charm with modern style, transporting the elegance of those great French singers into the present day. Highly sensitive and with a nose for poetry, this French artist has a special fondness for melodies from his home country, which also feature on his first solo album on the Naïve label. Stéphane Degout fascinates audiences in recital and concert, sometimes with piano accompaniment, sometimes in trio or quartet format from Paris to Brussels and London, from Rome, Berlin and New York. Escaping into the world of song has become even more important to him now that he is in such demand for operatic roles. Stéphane Degout's high tessitura predestinates him for great baritone roles from Monteverdi to Gluck and Mozart. A role which fascinates him, and which he has performed in many productions, is Debussy's Pelléas. There are also rarities to be found in his repertoire, like Conti's Don Chisciotte, under René Jacobs at the Theater an der Wien – and contemporary music like Boesman's latest world premiere Au monde at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels. His versatility, easy charm and a certain amount of coolness promises to make his recital at Oper Frankfurt something unforgettable.
