Elza van den Heever
The soprano Elza van den Heever is one of the leading singers of her generation. She is back in Frankfurt to sing the title role in this new production of Bellini's Norma, a role with which she enjoyed great success in Bordeaux, at the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto and Dallas Opera. Her triumphs during her time in the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt included Leonora (Il trovatore), Elvira (concert performances of Ernani), Suor Angelica / Giorgetta (Il trittico), Desdemona (Otello), Hélène (Les Vêpres siciliennes), Elettra (Idomeneo) and Elisabetta (concert performances of Maria Stuarda), a role with which she then made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York (2012 - available on DVD), where she has also sung Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Mozart's Elettra and Chrysothemis in Elektra. Engagements next season include Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito) at the Metropolitan Opera and Chrysothemis at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Other recent engagements have included Leonore (Fidelio) at Zurich Opera, Handel's Alcina in Santa Fe, Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes) at the Vienna State Opera and English National Opera, Elisabetta (Don Carlos) at the Opéra National du Rhin in Strassburg and Elsa (Lohengrin) under Simone Young at Zurich Opera and at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich.
