Dietrich Volle has been a member of the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt since 2007/08. Forthcoming roles for the company include Dottore in Manfred Trojahn's Enrico, the Bitter Prisoner in Aus einem Totenhaus/From the House of the Dead and Kromow in Die lustige Witwe/The Merry Widow - all new productions – and the Doctor (Barber's Vanessa), Robert (Les Vêpres siciliennes), 1st SS Man (Weinberg's Die Passagierin/The (female) Passenger) and First Mate (Billy Budd). This baritone has performed many roles in Frankfurt over the years including A Voice / Herald (Honegger's Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher), Saretzki (Eugene Onegin), Potapitsch (Der Spieler/The Gambler), Graf Dominik (Arabella), Dr. Kolenatý (Die Sache Makropulos/The Makropoulos Case), Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaro), Music Teacher (Ariadne auf Naxos), Spencer Coyle (Owen Wingrave), Faninal (Der Rosenkavalier), Kreon (Enescu's Oedipe), The Old Man (Reimann's Die Gespenstersonate/Ghost Sonata), Donner (Das Rheingold), Bishop of Cadix (Pfitzner's Palestrina) and the Duke of Albany (Reimann's Lear). He can be heard on a number of live recordings of operas at Oper Frankfurt – OehmsClassics. He took part in the first ever performances in Frankfurt of Eötvös’ Angels in America (Roy Cohn) and world premiere of Glanert's Caligula (Merea / Lepidus). In 2013 he sang the title role in Berg's Wozzeck at the Mainfrankentheater in Würzburg, where he also took part in the world premiere of Michael Obst's Die andere Seite/The Other Side.
