Alice Coote, one of the most sought after mezzo-sopranos in the world, is back in Frankfurt where she thrilled audiences sing Sesto (role debut) in a new production of La clemenza di Tito, Charlotte in Werther, Marguerite in La Damnation de Faust and in recital, to sing Sara in these concert performances of Donizetti's Roberto Devereux. This British artist appears at leading opera houses and concert halls around the world. Recent engagements have included Leonora (Adès’ The Exterminating Angel) and Idamante (Idomeneo) at the Metropolitan Opera, Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito) in Glyndebourne and at the BBC Proms, Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier) at the Royal Opera House in London and Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos) at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. Alice Coote is also wonderful in baroque repertoire, singing Handel's Ariodante, Xerxes, Ruggiero (Alcina), Sesto (Giulio Cesare in Egitto) and Dejanira (Hercules) at theatres including the Met, the Theater an der Wien, the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, English National Opera and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. She can be heard at the Met again soon, as the Prince in a new production of Massenet's Cendrillon. She is a much sought after recitalist who has appeared at the Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Concertgbouw Amsterdam and many other venues. The vast range of achievements by this winner of the Brigitte Fassbaender and Decca Kathleen Ferrier prizes are documented by an impressive discography.
