Concerts by the Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchestra
Ten symphony concerts presented by the Frankfurter Museums-Gesellschaft e.V with the Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchester in the main auditorium on the Alte Oper.
Isn't it wonderful that the Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchester perform ten pairs of orchestral concerts in the Alte Oper on top of rehearsing and performing around 170 performances of operas? I am very proud every time I stand before them, in the orchestra pit or concert stage, and we make music together. This season's Museums Concerts include music by Beethoven, Brahms and Tchaikovsky, music from France, Russia, America and Scandinavia and a world premiere for the chamber music ensemble SPARK and our orchestra.
Guest conductors include well known names and some younger conductors. Constantinos Carydis, who led unforgettable performances of Carmen and the double bill of Dido and Aeneas / Bluebeard's Castle. Giancarlo Guerrero, who comes from Costa Rica and works in America, has aready been nominated for a Grammy. Hartmut Haenchen, with whom I made music when I played french horn in the Berlin Staatskapelle. Ad Elias Grandy, now GMD at the Stadttheater in Heidelberg, who you might remember as a high spirited finalist at the last Sir Georg Solti Competition. The solists are also first class too: Viktoria Mullova, Arabella Steinbacher – Museum Soloist of the Season, the violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann, the sensational pianist Anna Vinnitskaya and young American piano duet sisters Christina and Michelle Naughton. When I have a free evening, which is not often, I like to go to the theatre or concert hall. I have another suggestion for you: look through the Museums Gesellschaft's chamber music programme! So many top class artists and ensembles, such wonderful programmes! The people of Frankfurt should be glad and proud to have their opera, their orchestra and their Museums Gesellschaft!
