Saskia Rettig works as a set and costume designer for plays, opera and ballet. She trained at the Academy for Fine Arts in Vienna with Erich Wonder and designed the costumes for Eva-Maria Höckmayr's productions of Delius' Romeo und Julia auf dem Dorfe / A Village Romeo and Juliet  and Les Troyens in Frankfurt and Lucia di Lammermoor at Cologne Opera. She recently designed costumes for Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande and Der fliegende Holländer at Theater Augsburg, sets and costumes for Jörg Weinöhl's ballet production Der Liebe Schlaf– ein Dornröschen Ballett / Lovely Sleep – a Sleeping Beauty ballet, Und der Himmel so weit, an evening of ballet for Schubert and Nut Cracker and Mouse Dream at Oper Graz. A collaboration which continued with Kontrapunkt, Auf der anderen Seite von Bach / Counterpoint, The Other Side of Bach and Meine Seele hört im Sehen and Sommernacht, geträumt. Other places where she has worked as stage and/or costume designer have included the Kammerspiele in Munich, the Schauspielhaus in Dusseldorf, Staatstheater in Mainz, the Theater St. Gallen, Theater Augsburg, the Staatsballett in Nürnberg, Bayerische Theaterakademie in Munich and the Max-Reinhardt-Seminar in Vienna.
