Susana Gómez has worked regularly with Àlex Ollé / La Fura dels Baus since 2014. Productions have included Madama Butterfly, Pelléas et Mélisande, La Bohème and, most recently, Alceste in Dresden, Lyon, Turin, Rome and Sydney. This Spanish director and writer's own productions have mainly been seen in her home country. These have included Don Giovanni, Un ballo in maschera, Norma, Turandot, La traviata, Brundibár and Zarzuela's La Gran Via and Agua, azucarillos y aguardiente. She has also staged concerts and operas, including El jardín secreto, Eolo and Friends, Como nací en la calle de la Paloma and Odisea Negra, and has written and staged many plays. Future projects include the Zarzuela Dúo de la Africana, a play, Emigrants, and a contemporary opera: Paz Perpetua. Susana Gómez studied direction in London and Moscow and literature and English in Oviedo. She began her career assisting directors including Hansgünther Heyme, Willy Decker, David McVicar, Claus Guth and Gustavo Tambascio.
