Verena Polkowski has been working as a freelance costume designer since 2010. Her most recent productions were Erik Petersen's Footloose and Evita at the Staatstheater in Darmstadt and Jesus Christ Superstar at the Oldenburg Staatstheater. Since time spent working as an assistant at Oper Frankfurt, Verena Polkowski has worked regularly with the director Tobias Heyder. Their productions have included the world premiere of Rolf Riehm's Sirenen / Sirens at Oper Frankfurt, Tosca at the Musiktheater in Gelsenkirchen and a Dido and Aeneas / Riders to the Sea double bill at the Landestheater in Coburg. They will be working together again this season, on Rusalka in Coburg. Verena Polkowski has aslo worked with the Fliegenden (flying) Volksbühne Frankfurt (productions included Rendezvous in the Palmengarten), the Joop van den Ende Academy (Godspell, Der Mann, der Sherlock Holmes war / The man who was Sherlock Holmes) and the Wetzlar Festival (Lotte – A Wetzlar Musical). Before she began studying fashion design in Trier and Lahti/Finland, she designed costumes for Katharina Thoma's production of Victoria und ihr Husar / Victoria and her Husar at the Staatstheater in Kassel.
