Björn Huestege

Soloists' Coach & Conductor

Björn Huestege, who has been working at Oper Frankfurt as a coach since 2012/13, now co-runs the coaching department. This season he will conduct performances of the revival of Korngold's Die tote Stadt/The Dead City. He made his debut conducting the Frankfurter Museumsorchester with performances of Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel in the 2014/15 season. Before coming to Frankfurt Björn Huestege assisted the General Music Director at the Stadttheater in Gießen and worked as a coach and assistant at the Hamburg State Opera, where he conducted the world premiere of Özkan Manav's Uzun Hava. He also worked on Kurt Weill's Die Sieben Todsünden/The Seven Deadly Sins and a Monteverdi cycle at the Komische Oper in Berlin, at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, where projects included the world premiere of Jörg Widmann's Babylon. Björn Huestege has also worked with the Bergische Symphoniker, the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, Bochum Symphonikern and the Hamburg Philharmonic. Since completing his studies (musicology and philosophy, and, later on, conducting at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen) Björn Huestege Björn Huestege also writes and publishes essays.
