Wallis Giunta

Soprano

This young Canadian singer, who studied at the Julliard School and graduated from the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, sang the roles of Countess Ceprano (Rigoletto) and Olga (The Merry Widow) at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and joined the ensemble at Oper Leipzig at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, during which she enjoyed a triumph with the title role (role debut) in La Cenerentola and sang Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Siébel (Faust) and her first Wagner roles: a Flower Maiden (Parsifal) and Rossweiße (Die Walküre). Roles in Leipzig during the 2016/17 season are Wellgunde in Das Rheingold and Prince Orlofsky Die Fledermaus. Guest engagements that season include Cenerentola at Opera North and Dido in Dido and Aeneas at Opera Atelier in Toronto. Other roles in recent seasons have included Tiffany (Adams’ I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky) at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome and Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Annio and Sesto (La clemenza di Tito) and Dorabella (Così fan tutte) at the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto. She has given many recitals and concert engagements have included Weill's Die sieben Todsünden/The Seven Deadly Sins in the USA and Canada, with the Taipei and Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Nürnberg Symphony Orchestra and Munich Radio Orchestra.
