The Danish bass Per Bach Nissen (Fafner) is appearing at Oper Frankfurt for the first time. He was under contract to the Staatsoper in Hannover from 2012-2015, where roles included Boris (Lady Macbeth von Mzensk), the Grand Inquisitor (Don Carlos), Gremin (Eugen Onegin), Sarastro, Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Cherea (Caligula) and Pogner (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg). Recent guest engagements have included Jeronimus in Nielsen's Maskerade and the Sacristan in Tosca at the Royal Opera House in Copenhagen, the Chief of Police in Lady Macbeth von Mzensk at English National Opera in London and the King in Aida at Malmö Opera. Other engagements in recent seasons have included Rocco (Fidelio) at the Opera of Michigan in Detroit, Osmin (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) at Opera Philadelphia and the Opera di Treviso and Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaro) at Opera Zuid. Orchestras with whom he has appeared in concert have included the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the South Danish Symphony Orchestra and he has also sung in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Per Bach Nissen returns to Copenhagen next season for Jeronimus, Giorgio (I puritani) and Boris Godunow.
