The Greek baritone Tassis Christoyannis is back in Frankfurt, where he made his debut singing Rodrigo in Don Carlos, to sing Conte di Luna in this new production of Il Trovatore. He is best known for his interpretation of Verdi roles, which have included Rigoletto, Don Carlos (Ernani), Renato (Un ballo in maschera) and Ford (Falstaff). He has also sung Giorgio Germont in La traviata at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels and the Glyndebourne Festival. Roles at the Opéra National in Paris have included Marcello (La bohème), Valentin (Faust), Silvio (Cavalleria rusticana) and Olivier (Capriccio). Other recent engagements have included Montfort (Les Vêpres siciliennes) in Geneva, Macbeth, Rodrigo and Simon Boccanegra in Bordeaux, Don Giovanni, Renato (Un ballo in maschera), Michele (Il tabarro) and Gianni Schicchi in Tours, Mozart's Figaro at the Staatsoper Berlin, Spiridion (Saint Saëns Le Timbre d’argent/The Silver Bell) at the Opéra-Comique in Paris and Orest (Elektra) in the Carnegie Hall New York. Tassis Christoyannis was a lead baritone at Athens Opera before joining the ensemble at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (2000-2006). His recordings include Bajazete (Tamerlano), Danaus (Les Danaïdes), Oreste (Andromaque) and two albums of Lieder by Félicien David and Edouard Lalo.
