Nikolay Didenko is appearing at Oper Frankfurt for the first time, singing Gremin in this revival of Eugene Onegin. This Russian bass appears regularly at the Bolschoi Theare in Moscow, where he recently sang the title role in Don Pasquale and Rodolfo in La sonnambula. This season he can be heard at Cologne Opera singing Comte des Grieux (Manon), Pope Clément VII (Benvenuto Cellini), the Grand Inquisitor and Philipp II (Don Carlo), the Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Oroveso (Norma), Padre Guardiano (La forza del destino), Gremin and Ramfis (Aida). Recent engagements have included performances at the Opéra National in Paris, the Royal Opera House in Copenhagen, Washington Opera, New York City Opera and the Canadian Opera Company. He also enjoys a busy concert career, recently appearing at the Festival de Radio France in Montpellier, with the London Philharmonic Orchestra in the Royal Festival Hall, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, Alte Oper Frankfurt and the Rheingau Musikfestival. Future plans include Verdi's Reqiuem with the Orchestre National d‘Ȋle-de-France. His extensive discography includes the Grammy winning recording: Penderecki Conducts Penderecki. After studying in Moscow Nikolay Didenko sang roles at the New Opera there before joining Houston Grand Opera's opera studio.
