The Korean singer Kwangchul Youn was a member of the Staatsoper in Berlin from 1993 - 2004, during which time he built up a large and varied repertoire. In recent years this much sought after bass has appeared at many of the worId's leading opera houses, including the Vienna State Opera (Faust, ZauberflöteParsifalDon Carlo, Tannhäuser), La Scala Milan(RheingoldDon Giovanni, Il trovatore, Fidelio), the Metropolitan Opera in New York (Lucia di Lammermoor, Les Troyens, Maria Stuarda), the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich (Parsifal, Der fliegende Holländer, Tristan und Isolde, Il trovatore), Semperoper in Dresden (Simon Boccanegra, Lohengrin), the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London (Lohengrin, Lucia di Lammermoor), Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona (Tristan und Isolde), Opéra National de Paris (La forza del destinoLuisa Miller, Aida), Oper Frankfurt (Don Carlos), the Lyric Opera of Chicago (Parsifal) and Teatro Regio in Turin (TannhäuserParsifal). He has also appeared at many leading festivals including those in Bayreuth, Salzburg, the Musikfestival in Dresden, Ravinia Festival, Klangbogen in Vienna and the Beethovenfest in Bonn. Kwangchul Youn also enjoys a busy international concert career, appearing regularly with orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Symphony, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the  Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome, VARA Radio in Amsterdam, the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona, the NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo and BBC Proms. His artistic achievements are documented by a substantial discography.
